School of Irish Archaeology Brings History to Life for Monaghan Institute Students
The School of Irish Archaeology recently visited Monaghan Institute, delivering an engaging and informative session on Ireland’s rich archaeological heritage. The interactive presentation was tailored for students in the Pre-University Arts, Pre-University Education, and Architectural Technology and Design Traineeship programmes, offering them a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating world of archaeology.

The visit featured hands-on classroom activities, where students examined artefacts from various archaeological digs across Ireland. These artefacts provided a tangible connection to the past, sparking discussions about their historical significance and the techniques used to uncover them.
In addition to the classroom exploration, students enjoyed an outdoor practical session, where they learned how to use excavation tools under expert guidance. This experience gave them a taste of real archaeological fieldwork, highlighting the skills and teamwork required in the profession.

The visit forms part of MI’s commitment to offering diverse learning experiences that prepare students for careers in arts, education, and design, while deepening their understanding of Ireland’s historical landscape
