Moffett Automation Hosts Monaghan Institute

Students and staff from Monaghan Institute were recently welcomed by the multidisciplinary team at Moffett Automation in Clontibret, Co. Monaghan. This long-standing partnership between education and industry has grown significantly, evolving from small site visits by Software Development students to a full-scale visit involving over 50 participants from a range of disciplines including Software Development, Computer Systems, Advanced Computing, Engineering, Construction Technologies and 3D Design. 

The team at Moffett Automation, which included several Monaghan Institute alumni, provided a comprehensive two-hour guided tour. Students experienced every stage of the company’s innovative operation, from initial customer concept, design and planning, through to production, development, testing, and product support.

The visit highlighted Moffett Automation’s commitment to Industry 5.0 standards, with their trademark Moffett Taxi offering tailored automated warehousing solutions across sectors such as automotive, healthcare, food and beverages, logistics and manufacturing. Students gained valuable insights into the importance of soft skills, including communication, planning and teamwork, which are central to the company’s success.

Staff from Monaghan Institute continue to integrate real-world examples into classroom assessments, helping students build confidence in areas such as design, health and safety, troubleshooting, production processes, administration and core skills. These experiences support students in preparing for direct entry into industry or progression to higher education.
