Monaghan Institute and DkIT Strengthen Progression Pathways for Learners

Monaghan Institute (MI) marked another important milestone in its partnership with Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) on Monday 28th September, with the formal signing of new articulation agreements. The agreements further strengthen progression opportunities for MI learners and recognise their achievements by providing pathways into higher education at DkIT.

The signing was attended by representatives from DkIT and CMETB including (From left to Right) Shane Hill Chairperson of Monaghan Institute’s Board of Management; Dr Fiona McGrath, Chief Executive of CMETB; Dr Linda Pinkster, Director of Further Education and Training, CMETB; Martina Rooney, Director of MI; Dr Diarmuid O’Callaghan, President of DkIT; Dr Sheila Flanagan, Vice President For Academic Affairs, Registrar, DkIT and Prof. Fergal McCaffery, Head of School of Informatics and Creative Arts, DkIT.

The new agreements cover Creative Media, Software Development, Computing and Operations Engineering, and Games Development, reflecting the commitment of both institutions to developing clear and accessible progression opportunities for learners. Eligible learners completing two year programmes in these areas of study in MI may progress directly into Year 3 of the linked degree programmes in DkIT:

  • BSc (Hons) in Computing in Software Development
  • BSc (Hons) in Computing in Development and Operating Engineering
  • BA (Hons) in Creative Media

The signing represents more than a formal agreement. It demonstrates a shared commitment by MI and DkIT to ensuring that further education can provide a clear and recognised route into higher education, creating real progression opportunities for learners across this region.
