Motor Vehicle Maintenance Course at Monaghan Institute

Register now for a one year Motor Vehicle Maintenance course which is scheduled to begin this September at Monaghan Institute (MI). It is designed to allow learners to develop occupational knowledge and to carry out practical workshop tasks, in preparation for work in a garage environment. The course is ideally suited for anyone with an interest in car maintenance or who wishes to join the automotive industry.

On successful completion of the course, graduates will have acquired a QQI Level 5 award in Motor Technology, which is nationally recognised and will enable them to compete for employment or an apprenticeship in the motor industry. The qualification can also be used to progress to a range of courses at Institutes of Technology nationwide through the Higher Education Links Scheme.

You can apply for a SUSI grant to study at MI; as it has over 40 SUSI approved courses at Level 5 and 6 and is also an approved institution. For further information and to check your eligibility for a student grant; go to the SUSI website (www.susi.ie) and choose PLC Student and follow the steps listed there.

If you are unemployed and in receipt of social welfare support you can still apply for a full-time course at MI. There are various schemes that can allow you to keep your social welfare payment and return to full time study such as Back to Education Allowance (BTEA) or the Vocational Training Opportunity Scheme (VTOS) provide financial supports to learners to return to education.
