Monaghan Institute’s Erasmus Internship in the Netherlands

Monaghan Institute Software Development and Engineering Technology students are currently on a two-week Erasmus+ work placement exchange programme in the Netherlands. This invaluable experience in conjunction with our host college ROC Friese Poort, now Firda, is made possible through the funding of the Erasmus+ Programme by the European Union.

It presents an exceptional opportunity for our students not only to fulfil their mandatory QQI Work Placement module necessary for award certification abroad but also exposes them to the cutting-edge environments of renowned engineering and computer companies in the Drachten and Groningen area, known for their advanced technological capabilities. The students are immersed in the dynamic and high-tech atmospheres of these leading companies, enhancing their practical skills, and gaining insights into the latest developments in the field.

In addition, to their professional endeavours, the students are also seizing the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich culture of Northern Holland. This extraordinary region offers a myriad of captivating experiences, allowing them to explore diverse sites and engage in various activities. From scenic landscapes to historical landmarks, the students are delving into the unique charm of the region, creating memorable moments beyond their academic pursuits. This cultural immersion enhances their overall learning experience and broadens their perspective, fostering personal and academic growth. The group are seen here with members of staff also partaking in the exchange programme.

Acknowledgments are extended to Leargas, the national agency, for their invaluable assistance in making this program possible. Their support has played a crucial role in facilitating and enriching the experience of Monaghan Institute Software Development and Engineering Technology students during their two-week Erasmus+ work placement exchange programme in the Netherlands.
