Monaghan Institute Graduate offers important insights to current Erasmus+ Participants 

Students from the QQI Level 5 Engineering, QQI Level 5 Software Development and QQI Level 6 Advanced Software Development involved in the Monaghan Institute Erasmus+ 2024 Project engaged in an Online Questions and Answer meeting with Colin Byrne a Senior Product Support Specialist with Qualcomm. 

Colin is a past student of the Level 5 Software Development Course in Monaghan Institute and was involved in the Erasmus+ 2018 project gaining Mobility + Certification for undertaking study and travel in Europe as part of an Erasmus Exchange Programme. Throughout his studies with Monaghan Institute Colin demonstrated excellent leadership skills and aptitude for Software Development, which he enhanced by undertaking a work placement with QLic Online Developers in Groningen, Netherlands.

Colin detailed to the 2024 cohort of students the benefits he gained from undertaking the Erasmus + project as an addition to his studies in Monaghan Institute, outlining the development of his communication skills in both a personal and professional capacity, expanding his depth of knowledge for working in the Software Development industry and confirming his decision to study Software Development further.

Colin continued his study of Software Development to Level 6 and then progressed direct to employment, working at Solarwinds in a technical support role before gaining his current position with Qualcomm who are a world leader in solutions for automotive, mobile, consumer IOT, Industrial IOT and Networking IOT wireless solutions. Team, Colin outlined how he used the skills and confidence gained from his Erasmus + 2018 experience in a previous role to set up remote offices in Krakow and engage in a professional context with team members and management across different European locations. Colin concluded the online meeting by emphasising the benefit of planning and preparation prior to travel to ensure maximum gain from the Erasmus + experience.

The Monaghan Institute Erasmus+ 2024 team are currently preparing for Travel to the Netherlands in January 2024 and the combined cohort of Software and Engineering students should ensure an excellent learning opportunity and development for their futures.
