COVID-19: Monaghan Institute’s increased online provision update

Following the announcement by the Taoiseach Micheál Martin, County Monaghan has been placed on Level 4 under the Plan for Living with COVID-19, from midnight Thursday 15th October.

Monaghan Institute will adhere to the following Government guidelines for FET provision:

a) Move to online for the majority of provision – taking points b, c & d below into consideration

b) Practical classes / labs / workshops can continue on-site, as these cannot be delivered online. (Colleges to note: NPHET recommended that healthcare students in higher and further education (including allied health disciplines) should be facilitated to attend on site, with appropriate protective measures in place, for any clinical placements, simulation exercises or training, laboratory practice or practical examinations that are necessary to meet professional or regulatory requirements”)

c) Direct engagement with learners to continue especially with vulnerable learners who face difficulties in undertaking independent study or exclusively online participation and may be at high risk of dropping out due to a lack of face to face contact.

d) Other non-PLC programmes that run in Monaghan Institute, e.g. traineeships, apprenticeships and PLC Access Programme remain on-site with face to face tuition as they fall into categories b & c above.
