Grant Thornton Ireland and Monaghan Institute launch a collaborative competition for Business Learners

Grant Thornton, one of the world’s leading organisations of independent audit, tax and advisory companies is collaborating with Monaghan Institute on its Business Courses.  The Institute and Grant Thornton will be running a competition for students of the Level 5 Business Studies & Office Administration and Level 6 Advanced IT & Business Management courses.

Janette Maxwell, Associate Director of Tax in Grant Thornton launched the collaborative competition with Monaghan Institute learners on Friday 29th January.

Monaghan native Janette Maxwell, Associate Director in  the Tax Department at Grant Thornton, together with Monaghan Institute’s Business department tutors, virtually launched the competition with students on Friday 29th January.

Grant Thornton has 7 offices located across the island of Ireland, however their staff are even more widespread.  This includes some of their key taxation staff like Janette, who live and work in County Monaghan, generally working remotely. Also, Grant Thornton’s Head of Tax, Bernard Doherty is from Castleblayney.

This competition opportunity will illustrate to Monaghan Institute Business students the career opportunities and progression routes available locally and the possibility of working with an International Company in the future.

The Business students will participate in the competition by creating a self-endorsing, professional ‘Personal Statement’ about their skills (vocational, personal and life), career goals and progression plans – a very worthwhile exercise for future employment. Grant Thornton have also generously sponsored competition prizes.

We wish our Business students every success in their entries and thank Grant Thornton for this opportunity.
