Monaghan Institute – Delivering Courses to Support People who have lost their Jobs

Cavan and Monaghan ETB and SOLAS have rolled out a new initiative, called Skills to Compete, to support people who have lost their jobs as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic; and Monaghan Institute will play an integral role in delivering this provision locally.

Responding to the recent increase in people who have joined the live register, the programmes at Monaghan Institute aim to support learners, identify any skill gaps they may have and provide targeted modules to enhance their C.V. This will enable them to compete for the jobs that will become available as the economy strengthens or in areas where other opportunities exist.

Vocationally Focused Courses Increase our Graduates Job Prospects

Monaghan Institute have a large range of full-time courses and our graduates have progressed to work in many diverse fields. Our college has fully equipped practical rooms, Science and IT labs, Multi-media laboratories, Hairdressing Salon, Beauty Therapy rooms, Dog Grooming Parlour, Nursing Practical room, Electrical and Engineering Workshops. 

As our courses are vocational in nature, our learners gain practical competencies in their chosen career areas throughout their time with us. Work experience forms an important element of our courses enabling our learners to gain that all important work practice requirement for their CV’s.

Progression and additional study at Level 7 or Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications at Colleges and Universities in Ireland or in the UK may be required for some careers.
