Monaghan Institute’s Erasmus Work Experience Internship

A number of learners from Monaghan Institute’s Level 5 Computer Games and Level 6 Software Development courses are completing their mandatory course of work experience in Groningen, in the Netherlands from 29th January until 9th February 2018.  This extremely exciting opportunity for our learners is facilitated through the Erasmus + programme which is a European funding programme established in 1987 offering college students a possibility of studying or doing an internship abroad in another country. Our partner college in the Netherland’s is ROC Friese Poort, with whom Monaghan Institute have successfully worked on two prior Erasmus programmes.

Whilst in Groningen, our learners will get an opportunity of working in many leading computer software companies. This cutting edge experience will allow them to further advance their careers either at home or abroad in the coding and IoT area. It is also an opportunity to put into practice many of the coding skills they have learned both on the QQI certified Level 5 Computer Games and Level 6 Software Development courses here at Monaghan Institute.

It won’t be all work however, as Gronnigen is a delightful city with a cosmopoliatan buzz that is packed with museums, restaurants, bars, theatres and festivals. It is a centre of culture in the north of the Netherlands. Learners will be accompanied during their stay in the Netherlands by Monaghan Institute IT teachers, Fergal Sherry and Ray Quinn.

This project is funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union
