Leaving Certificate with five O6 grades (or five passes pre 2017) or Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent. For mature students applications may be considered based on a proven interest in Animal Care. Entry may be subject to interview.

Course Structure

This Animal Care course is designed to equip learners with the skills and underlying knowledge required to work in the evolving sector of animal related industries. Career Options | Progression

Holders of a QQI Level 5 Certificate in Animal Care may progress to a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Animal Science or to further studies at Institutes of Technology/Universities. You may also directly enter employment as an animal care assistant in animal clinics & hospitals or work in animal shelters, kennels, animal parks/zoos, pet shops, animal grooming etc.

STE6 - Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Animal Science

This Advanced Certificate course provides training for those interested in acquiring skills necessary to manage a variety of establishments where animals are kept, including practical and supervisory skills. It integrates aspects from a wide range of animal related disciplines to provide learners with the relevant practical and theoretical knowledge to further their professional careers in this field.
