Busy start up at Monaghan Institute
The first three weeks of term for 2017-18 academic year at Monaghan Institute have been exciting and event filled for our new students and for staff, with registration, induction and the start of classes.
All are getting to know their new surroundings, their timetables and where to go for different classes. The canteen has become the student hub and the ‘go to’ place at breaks and lunch time. The Library is already in use by many, with its updated stock of books and high end computer facilities. Likewise, the many social areas and the college wifi are also getting plenty of use before, between and after classes.
Class groups are getting to know each other and new friends are being made. Staff are supporting learners in the familiarisation process and encouraging the different groups to connect, via the Students Union, clubs & societies, lunch time support classes etc.
All PLC courses are now established, with two traineeships (Laboratory Techniques, in association with Monaghan Mushrooms and OEM Engineering, in association with Combilift Ltd) and an apprenticeship (ATI Accounting Technician) also starting last week. In addition, the first year of the Bachelor Business (Hons) Level 8 degree from DkIT have their induction, with lectures starting in Monaghan Institute next week.
If you have been thinking about taking a course, but haven’t decided what you would like to do, there is still a chance to join this years’ cohort of learners at a Monaghan Institute, across a range of subject areas. Perhaps you have enrolled on a programme at third level, but have found that it is just not for you, or that the costs involved have put it beyond your reach. Or maybe you are a mature student thinking of returning to study to upgrade your skills to re-enter employment.
