29th November 2016 Animal Care Ecology Trip to Dublin Zoo

The Level 5 Animal Care students visited Dublin Zoo on the 29th November 2016 for their annual Ecology Trip.

As part of the visit students completed Habitat Maps, Quadrants Studies and Line Transactions. This involved identifying different types of trees, plants and insects. The data collection, studies of vegetation cover and insect identification skills all form an integral part of their course studies. Students also looked at factors affecting the habitat including light intensity, soil and air temperatures.

During their tour of the zoo the students also considered factors relating to the animals including conservation and care, they study focused on the Asian Elephant, the Golden Tamarin Monkey and the Amur Tiger.

Thank you to Orla O’Connor for the excellent photo album, to view the images here…
